Addressing the crowd in Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, the lawmaker proposed the ouster of Majority Leaders Aden Duale (National Assembly) and Kipchumba Murkomen (Senate), who are seen as close Ruto allies.
However, his remarks have attracted attacks from Belgut MP Nelson Kocech, who says that Malala is in no position to interfere in Jubilee Party affairs, through such suggestions.
In an interview with the Monday Nation, he termed him a busybody who seems not aware that such a decision can only be made through a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting.
“Who is Malala to suggest that the Jubilee House leadership should be changed? On what basis should the two be removed? These busybodies do not understand what Murkomen and Duale have done to the government,” he said.
He accused Malala and other leaders allied to the opposition of trying to dictate what happens in the ruling party, claiming that they even tried to influence the recent cabinet reshuffle.
According to Koech, the leaders had names of people they wanted removed from the cabinet, in the reshuffle that saw Mwangi Kiunjuri, a deemed ally of the DP, sacked as Agriculture CS.
“Our opponents think they can dictate to us what to do in our party. Just recently, they wanted the President to remove certain individuals from the Cabinet,” he added.
Malala’s remarks at Bukhungu were backed by Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.
The remarks come amid claims of looking changes in the houses, which will also affect majority whips and committee heads.
