MILTON, Ga. – SWAT teams surrounded a large home in Milton Wednesday and took a man into custody after police said the man shot a weapon inside the house.
Only NewsChopper 2 was over the scene at The Manor Golf and County Club, where law enforcement vehicles set up a perimeter around the house and a SWAT vehicle pulled into one yard. At one point, officers with guns drawn approached the home, and a man came outside. He surrendered, and officers put him into handcuffs and led him away.
Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik, was at the scene, where he learned that the man is a neighbor of “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kim Zolciak-Biermann. The subdivision of multi-million dollar homes is near Hopewell and Hamby roads.
Police identified the man as George R. Moore.
Police said family members called to report that someone at the home was distress and asked for a welfare check.
When officers arrived at the home, Moore refused to open the door and hung up on them when police and family members tried to call. The North Fulton SWAT team was brought in for officers’ safety.
The man surrendered peacefully after several hours, police said.

Police later determined Moore had fired the weapon inside the home. It’s unclear if anyone else was in the home at the time.
“This is the kind of resolution that we hope for when we get into these situations,” Captain Charles Barstow told Petchenik. “A peaceful resolution, calmer minds, calmer voices and he obviously responded to that.”
Moore has been charged with reckless conduct and taken to the Fulton County Jail.
Neighbors couldn’t get in or out of their neighborhood for nearly three hours.
Petchenik talked to Tracey Bloom, who is Zolciak-Biermann’s chef.
“When I was in the house, everyone was running around,” Bloom said. “I was just cooking and I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ My boss, Kim, was like, ‘Get all the wine and bring it down to the safe room.'”
Bloom said she’s seen the man before.
“From what I hear, he was cool, but then if you got on his bad side, he’d go crazy and get weird and stuff like that,” Bloom said. “I hope this guy gets the help he needs.”
