Osotsi faults Malala’s suspension from ANC

ANC nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi has condemned the suspension of Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala from the party.

Osotsi in Kakamega on Saturday said the party lacked tolerance and internal democracy.

The Musalia Mudavadi-led party suspended Malala, citing gross misconduct.

Osotsi claimed the ANC disciplinary council members who spearheaded the suspension were not even officials of ANC. “Those people you saw on TV are not officials of the ANC party. If you want to know the officials of ANC, we know them, and we shall soon name them,” Osotsi said.

Osotsi urged Malala to stand firm and not to allow anybody to threaten him. “We cannot accept to have a party that does not encourage tolerance and where members cannot act democratically without being disciplined,” he said

The lawmaker said the Kibra by-election candidature was not deliberated upon by all party members.

“If the party did not involve all the members in the decision of who would be the candidate for the seat, how will it be then that after the elections, they want to kick Malala out of the party?” Osotsi asked.

The ANC disciplinary committee made the decision to suspend Malala last Wednesday after holding a meeting to discuss his misconduct.

According to ANC national disciplinary committee, Malala drummed up support for the Orange party’s candidate against them during the Kibra parliamentary by-election.
