Addressing mourners during the funeral of Lugari MP Ayub Savula’s daughter on Saturday, January 5, the youthful senator claimed Khalwale was embarrassing Mulembe nation by hanging around the DP with the hope of securing a job.
“A whole doctor of Medicine has become a beggar, always begging at the home of the DP in Sugoi. He has become a house help at William Ruto’s home. Boni Khalwale you are shaming the people of Mulembe nation,” Malala said.
The senator went further to challenged Khalwale to resign from his party, Ford Kenya, if he insists on campaigning for Ruto.
Malala also threw veiled jibes at his frenemy Rashid Echesa, Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS), whom he ridiculed for being linked to a human trafficking case.
TUKO.co.ke understands Khalwale and Echesa are among several other politicians from the Western Kenya region who had expressed their interests in supporting and working with Ruto.
Khalwale in particular had repeatedly indicated the DP would be his presidential candidate in the next General Election.
According to the bullfighter, Ruto had demonstrated maturity in the political scene and proven he had what it takes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on the Ford Kenya party leader, Moses Wetangula, to part ways with Khalwale because of the former Kakamega senator’s political stand.
Khalwale’s continued dalliance with Ruto had offended not only the Ford Kenya party officials who want him out, but also the Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
Addressing the residents of Vihiga County during the annual Maragoli Cultural Festival on Friday, December 28, Atwoli said Khalwale’s support for Ruto’s presidency was undermining Luhya unity and therefore he should be expelled from Ford Kenya where he is the deputy party leader.
“One of our very own (Khalwale) is hovering around with the deputy president yet we are trying to unite as Luhyas. I support calls to remove him him from your party,” Atwoli told Ford Kenya leader ,Moses Wetangula, who was present at the event.
