Malala Yousafzai is on the cover of Coldplay documentary, Head Full of Dreams

Activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has been featured on the cover image of British Rock band Coldplay’s documentary film, Head Full of Dreams. Released on Amazon Prime, the film takes a look back at the 22 years’ career of the bandmates.

Coldplay will release a collection of their live performances in Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo along with their documentary film Head Full of Dreams on CD, DVD and vinyl on December 7. The collection named A Butterfly Package features a psychedelic artwork illustrated and designed by Kristjana S Williams. The design includes icons that represent the popular film franchise The Hunger Games, Everglow boxing gloves referencing late boxer Mohammad Ali and Malala Yousafzai.

The designer on her website shared that she has drawn inspiration for this artwork from the band’s past concerts, tours and interviews. “This has been months in the making and I’m thrilled to be involved with such incredible musicians,” says the London-based artist. “There is so much for me to draw on stylistically, from their unforgettable album covers to their videos and interviews.”

She also explained what the overall design represents. “In the centre of the butterfly is the piano the band always take on tour and the butterfly itself represents Asia, Europe and the Americas,” she said.

This is not the first time that the band has taken inspiration from South East Asia. Previously, their chart-topper tune ‘Hymn For The Weekend’ featured a cameo by Sonam Kapoor and was shot in India with some artwork by local design giant Samya Arif. The documentary which was released on 16th November will be available for purchase globally.

The director of the band who has been filming with them since the beginning of their career also revealed that the band members never wanted to make a film about their journey as they wanted to always look forward. However, the former band manager convinced them and the documentary was eventually filmed.
