Mingora: Swat police successfully rescued an abducted child after three weeks. Swat District Police Officer Saleem Marwat said this during a news conference in Mingora on Friday.
“Three-year-old Ayan Ali, who was abducted for ransom on June 1, was rescued from a gang of kidnappers.”
The DPO added Swat police at the initial stage constituted two investigative teams that were dispatched to Attock and Mansehra districts to start investigation and search for the missing child.
“A final team was constituted, headed by SSP Investigation Shahjehan, who made the rescue possible.”
He added Ayan was rescued from Bypass area of Swat district. He had been taken hostage by a man identified as Abdul Mateen and Taj Bibi, a female accomplice in the crime.
Marwat also said both, the detained child abductors, were Afghan nationals and demanded a ransom of Rs20 million from the parents.
“Swat police arrested the criminals after tracing their calls made to the parents to get the money in exchange for their child,” the DPO said, adding Ayan Ali was with his family and the detained kidnappers were under police interrogation so that other members of the group could also be nabbed.
Ayan’s father Sadaqat Khan was also present on the occasion. He thanked Swat police for successfully rescuing his child.
“I am extremely happy over the safe recovery of my son and I appreciate the effective role of Swat police,” said the relieved father.
